One of the most important areas of your golf is to constantly improve Your Golf Short Game. When you consider that 80% of your shots are taken withing 150 yard of the pin, you begin to realize how important it is to always work on improving your golf short game.

The key to improving your short game is to try and stay relaxed. this should not be too difficult since you have just done the hard part - teed off - probably in front of a small audience! Now all you have to do is get the ball to the pin without making any horrifying mistakes.

The also need to be comfortable with your short irons. Consider going to the driving range with only your 5, 7 and 9 irons. Work through each club and find out exactly what sort of distance and height you get when you are hitting them correctly.

Another good idea is to only play with these 3 clubs for your short irons (not including your wedges) until it becomes second nature as to which one you select for different situations. this way, you will not be confusing yourself with too much choice.

Another important aspect of improving your golf short game is to get comfortable with your wedges around the green. many shots can be wasted by hitting the top of the ball with your pitching wedge and sending it into the rough on the far side of the green. this is very frustrating and can cost you many shots on your score.

Make plenty of time to practice with your pitching wedge at the practice green. The key here is to first create 1 set up that you can can use to always guarantee that you get onto the green. Once you are comfortable with this and have used it successfully on a few rounds, mix it up a bit and create 2 or 3 other set ups for different distances and lies.

The key to using your wedges around the green is to not get smart too quickly. These are critical shots and carry a hefty price if they are carelessly executed.

Finally, lets not forget the dreaded bunker shots. Bunker shots are fact of life in your short game. You need to practice these and find the club that suits you best for taking shots in the sand. Always remember that bunker shots are just another shot and don't really need to be feared.

With time and practice, you will see your short game improve. this improvement will dramatically improve your score too.

Merchants are singing those three magic words again, 'Back to School' and the fallout is everywhere!

Just as you're getting your deep dark pre-cancerous tan going -- you hear those words -- and it spells the end of summer. Once again we are bombarded with advertising, featuring the latest in 'teen ware' 'school ware' and 'metal detector ware'. Kidding!

Is it just me or does it seem this year there is a lot more 'Back to School' advertising for notebooks and laptops? They seem to be everywhere... on TV, radio, and online.

Laptop ads are everywhere. Why is this?

Well, notebooks have come down in price, they have become more affordable, even for the modest student. laptops have also come down in size, making them ideal for that school napsack, or dormroom. They have also become tougher and sturdier... better equipped to meet the hard/wear/tear that students give it.

With notebook technology changing every two years or so; notebooks can now handle most tasks students throw their way. These advanced notebooks can do the job. They also present a much stronger entertainment value to students, they can handle better graphics and gaming, but most students try to keep parents in the dark about this factor as they plead for a new laptop for college or school. All this pleading is further fueling the demand for laptops.

Then there is a little thing called the Internet. Throw in a wireless connection and the student laptop is coming into its own. Big Time!

The Internet has become a second teacher/parent/counselor to most students. God help us all! But it has also become a priceless source of the collective knowledge on this planet; frightening but true. The Internet is an invaluable source of knowledge for any high school/college student.

If you're a parent, student, or guardian; here are some of the factors you should consider when buying the best student laptop or notebook:

* size, it must be small, lightweight and very portable, fit comfortably under the arm or in that backpack

* sturdy, it must be tough, sturdy, ruggerized, and able to take more than one hard knock because students are students

* connections, wireless connections should be offered, the Internet is such a valuable tool in itself - a student should be able to access it anywhere. Most notebooks have these connections but check -- a printer port, a 56Kbps-modem, a VGA port for an external monitor, and should have at least one usb port for external keyboard/mouse, digital cameras, drives, and MP3 players

* technical specs, it should have enough RAM, storage space (hard drive) and computing speed to do any job the student can throw at it

* battery life, make sure your student notebook has a reasonable battery life, 5 hours or more

* price, it should be reasonably priced, refurbished laptops may be an option for those on a strict budget

However, some words of wisdom, students or parents shouldn't skimp too much -- if you're spending 10's of thousands on an education, you should also provide for the best possible equipment in the form of a sturdy, lightweight high performance laptop. Besides, a high quality laptop will last for years... just imagine your son or daughter writing their resumes on it after they have finished college... keep this image in your mind as you go about buying that perfect student laptop.

Nanny Cams. A Toy for the Voyeur, or a Necessity for Every Parent?

John and Melissa were enjoying their dinner at a local restaurant. It was the first time in six months that they had gone anywhere without their newborn baby.

Melissa spoke up, "I hope we did the right thing, leaving our baby alone with the new nanny". In a calm voice John replied, "Honey, it's been a long sleepless six months. We deserve this night out. And besides, I'm sure our nanny is qualified to take care of our little girl for one night".

"You're right" Melissa said, "let's just enjoy this dinner". But a few moments later Melissa's cell phone rang; in a panicked voice Melissa said to John "WE HAVE TO GO NOW! SOMETHINGS HAPPENED TO OUR BABY! without hesitation, they flagged down the waiter, paid their bill and headed for home as fast as they could.

When they arrived home, their nanny explained that the baby had rolled off the couch and hit her head on an end table. She seemed O.K. but I called the doctor anyway, said the nanny. Hes on his way over here right now.

With suspicion running through her mind, and not knowing what to believe, Melissa immediately went to her bedroom and turned on the monitor to her DVR (Digital video Recorder). Weeks earlier, Melissa had purchased a hidden nanny cam disguised as a teddy bear, after hearing a story in the news about an abusive babysitter. In a few seconds she had her answer, the baby did just roll off the couch. That didnt make it ok, but Melissa wanted to trust her new nanny and now she felt a little more certain that she could.
